Family is part of his recovery.

Addiction affects the people who love him, not only the man using. Our family program offers monthly educational classes, and family therapy when his treatment plan calls for it.

What is family therapy?

Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on improving communication and resolving conflict within a family. Parents, children, spouses and other relatives are all encouraged to take part.

It gives the family a safe, supportive place to deal with what addiction has done to their relationships, and to work toward healing. It also helps the man in treatment understand what’s underneath his addiction and build healthier ways to cope and communicate.

What it helps families do

  • Improve communication. Learn to express feelings, needs and concerns openly and respectfully.
  • Heal relationships. Addiction often damages trust. Therapy is a chance to rebuild it and strengthen family bonds.
  • Recognize enabling. See the ways help can unintentionally feed the addiction, and find healthier ways to support him.
  • Create a supportive environment. One where he feels understood, validated and encouraged to make positive changes.
  • Help prevent relapse. Families get tools and resources to support his recovery and help prevent relapse.

Monthly classes, and therapy when it’s needed.

Families can join our monthly educational classes. Family therapy is provided as needed, based on each client’s personalized treatment plan.

Our holistic approach reaches past the client to his family and community. We work with local organizations, mental health professionals and community resources, and we use education and advocacy to take the stigma out of addiction.

If he’s not in treatment yet, you can make the call.

  1. Call (502) 377-3050

Admissions welcomes calls from family members. Tell us what’s going on.

  2. We check his coverage

With Kentucky Medicaid, he pays no fees for treatment. Without it, admissions can help him apply for benefits, and there are payment plans.

  3. Come to intake with him

Family members and other support people are welcome to be part of the intake process.

“Reclaim Recovery saved my son’s life. He immediately knew this was the place for him and his recovery. The staff is amazing and truly cares about their clients. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for my son and all those in recovery! Thank you Todd Sharp and staff!”
